Key points
- Marvell (MRVL) fell 10.3% Friday after guiding gross margin lower on a greater custom mix. Broadcom (AVGO) and Credo (CRDO), which sell into the same build, both report this week.
- Ten of the names we track report between Tuesday, September 1 and Thursday, September 3. Broadcom anchors Wednesday after the close, consensus $3.16 against $1.69 a year ago.
- September rate-hike odds rose to about 58% after Fed Chair Kevin Warsh's Jackson Hole speech, per CME FedWatch.
Marvell (MRVL) fell 10.3% on Friday, to $216.62. Demand was not the issue. The company guided gross margin lower on what B. Riley Securities called a "greater custom mix," and custom silicon is what two of the largest names on this week's calendar sell, which places a single line in one company's guidance in front of ten earnings reports.
They land between Tuesday, September 1 and Thursday, September 3, with Broadcom (AVGO) as the anchor on Wednesday afternoon. The wider backdrop offers little support. Nvidia (NVDA) gave back 4.6% the day after its own strong report, and the odds of a September rate hike rose to about 58% following Fed Chair Kevin Warsh's Jackson Hole speech, per CME FedWatch.

Tuesday: Dell and Credo
Dell (DELL) reports first. The consensus is $4.88 for the July quarter, almost exactly the $4.86 it delivered three months ago. The more instructive figure is the estimate going into that quarter, which was $2.93. Analysts have raised the bar by two thirds since then and still expect Dell to clear it. Shares closed Friday at $456.24, 11% below the record set August 13.
Credo (CRDO) makes the cables and connectivity chips that link AI servers, and it has exceeded the consensus in six straight reports. Analysts expect $1.12 against $0.52 a year earlier. The stock trades at 93 times trailing earnings. That multiple is where the risk sits, because Credo sells into the same custom-silicon build that cost Marvell a tenth of its value in a single session, and it closed Friday at $232.75, about 25% below its June 22 high.
Palo Alto Networks (PANW), GitLab (GTLB), MongoDB (MDB) and NIO (NIO) also report Tuesday.
Wednesday: Broadcom, with the margin question Marvell raised
Broadcom is the week's most consequential report. Consensus is $3.16 against $1.69 a year ago, with six consecutive beats behind it, and the stock enters the week 25% below the $495 high it set June 3. Marvell's margin question applies directly here, because custom AI accelerators are central to Broadcom's growth rather than a peripheral line. We examined the quarter in detail in our full Broadcom preview. The company was also reported seeking more than $60 billion for a single AI deal on August 20.
Snowflake (SNOW) is the exception on this list. Nearly everything else here trades well below its high, while Snowflake's Friday close of $328.00 sits 4% from the record it set August 12. The consensus is $0.26. Last quarter it earned $0.39 against a $0.14 estimate.
Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) is expected to about double its year-ago earnings, $0.91 against $0.44, after a June quarter of $0.79 versus a $0.52 estimate. The shares fell 3.9% Friday to $52.31.
C3.ai (AI) has narrowed its loss against the estimate six quarters running, and the consensus Wednesday is a loss of $0.33. At $10.53 the stock trades near half its October high, which is what the market pays for a loss that is narrowing without closing.
Thursday: Ciena before the bell, then three more
Thursday opens with Ciena (CIEN), the only morning report in the group. The consensus of $1.67 implies 149% growth over the $0.67 it earned a year ago. No stock here has covered more ground in twelve months: $90 last September 2, $637.51 on June 3, and $378.44 at Friday's close. That is a sevenfold gain and a 41% decline inside the same year.
Ambarella (AMBA) has a record analysts have not adjusted to. They modeled a loss in four of its past six quarters. It reported a profit each time. The consensus Thursday is $0.08.
Zscaler (ZS) closes its fiscal year with a consensus of $0.88, below the $1.08 it earned in the third quarter, so analysts are modeling a step down from the quarter it has already posted. The stock is 45% below its November high.
Lululemon (LULU) is the one non-AI name on our calendar, and its valuation suggests the market has already reached a conclusion. The consensus of $2.51 is down from $3.10 a year ago. It trades under 10 times trailing earnings. The shares still rose 5.1% Friday, to $120.81. DocuSign (DOCU), UiPath (PATH), Samsara (IOT) and Asana (ASAN) also report Thursday.
Estimates above are consensus figures as of Friday, August 28, and prices are Friday closes. The first reports land after Tuesday's close.
