DeepSeek and Moonshot AI, two of the best-known Chinese model makers, are still private. Can you buy DeepSeek stock?
No. DeepSeek is privately held and has no stock ticker. Reuters reported in September 2026 that it hired CITIC Securities to prepare a possible listing on Shanghai's STAR Market, but no filing or timetable has been made public.
How can US investors buy Chinese AI stocks?
Companies listed in Hong Kong, such as MiniMax (0100.HK) and Z.AI (2513.HK), can be bought through brokers that offer Hong Kong market access. Shares listed only on Shanghai's STAR Market can generally be reached from outside mainland China through the Northbound Stock Connect link, and only for stocks on Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing's eligible list.
