Bank of America says Nvidia (NVDA), Broadcom (AVGO), and Micron (MU) already trade like post-crash Cisco
Chip stocks are down about 10% this week. Bank of America's chip analyst says the valuation reset already happened, while Wells Fargo's strategist leans toward software.

Michael Burry says Big Tech is understating AI's costs. It's the write-off risk I'm watching.
Michael Burry says the biggest cloud companies are understating what their AI chips cost, by about $176 billion through 2028. It is the write-off risk I flagged earlier this week, from a different angle.

Three dot-com warning signs are back for AI. I'm watching for a fourth.
Chip and memory prices are climbing, bond buyers want wider spreads on AI debt, and the Fed is raising rates. Those are three warning signs from 2000. Here's the one I'm still waiting for.

Anthropic withheld its hacking model. CrowdStrike (CRWD) and Palo Alto (PANW) got early access.
Anthropic restricted the model it says is strikingly capable at finding software flaws, and handed it to CrowdStrike, Palo Alto Networks, Cisco and Nvidia instead. What six listed security companies have disclosed since.

Nvidia (NVDA) CEO calls cybersecurity AI's next major market and names CrowdStrike, Cisco and Palantir
Jensen Huang told the Goldman Sachs Communacopia conference that cybersecurity will be AI's next major use case, and named CrowdStrike (CRWD), Cisco (CSCO) and Palantir (PLTR) as the partners building on Nvidia's models.

Anthropic says it never asked to ban open-weight AI. Dario Amodei does want China cut off from Nvidia (NVDA) chips.
Dario Amodei answered the Nvidia-hosted open-weights letter on July 27, three days after Anthropic became the only major AI lab to skip it. He says a ban was never the ask. What he does want is China cut off from US chips, a crackdown on industrial-scale distillation, and mandatory safety testing for every capable model, open or closed.

ChangXin Memory (CXMT) closed up 466% on day one and is worth as much as Intel. Its factories are sold out through 2027.
ChangXin Memory (CXMT) closed its Shanghai debut up 465.82%, passing ICBC as China's most valuable listed company and drawing level with Intel. Only 6.73% of its stock was tradable. The order book behind it is the part that matters for Micron (MU) and SK Hynix (SKHY).

Nvidia (NVDA) and 34 other companies told Washington not to restrict open-weight AI. OpenAI signed a day late. Anthropic still hasn't.
The Open Weights and American AI Leadership letter asks Washington not to restrict AI models anyone can download. It went from 25 signatures to 35. OpenAI added its name after sitting out the launch, Google's CEO backed it without signing, and Anthropic declined to comment. Update, July 27: the list has since grown to 133 names, and both Google and Amazon signed.
