Nine more funds reported smaller stakes, and none of them cracks $100 million: Woodline Partners at $86.8 million, Tiger Global at $64.1 million, Greenoaks at $44.0 million, Appaloosa at $38.4 million, Third Point at $30.8 million, Whale Rock at $26.1 million, Suvretta at $17.3 million and Bridgewater at $2.0 million. What the filings show
All 20 funds priced the stock at close to the same level. D1's stake works out to $170.90 a share and Glade Brook's to $170.75, which is what you'd expect when everyone marks the same June 30 close.
Two funds stand out for size relative to everything else they own. Glade Brook Capital Partners filed a two-line 13F: SpaceX at $2.70 billion and Ethos Technologies at $15.6 million. D1 Capital Partners reported 55 positions and put more into SpaceX than into the other 54 combined. Dragoneer reported 12 positions with SpaceX at 48% of the total, and it closed its Nvidia stake in the same quarter.
Citadel Advisors reported the position three ways: 5,129,884 shares, $1.42 billion of call options and $973.5 million of puts. That mix is normal for Citadel's filings, which cover both its hedge fund and its market-making arm. The options lines aren't a directional view.
Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund filed separately and is not in the 20 above. Its SpaceX stake came to $26 billion, about 70% of its US stock book, which we covered on Aug. 14.
Where the stock has traded since
SPCX closed at $146.23 on Aug. 17, below the $171 level the filings imply for June 30. Every figure above is a June 30 snapshot, so the current value of these stakes is lower than what the filings report, assuming the funds haven't sold. Applying that Aug. 17 close to the same share counts values the group's combined holding near $30.3 billion, about $5.1 billion below the disclosed figure. D1 Capital carries most of that on its own, since its 126 million shares account for 61% of the group total.
What this does, and does not, signal
A 13F shows what a manager held on one day. It says nothing about the price paid or the date bought. Twenty funds appearing at once is a fact about disclosure rather than evidence of a coordinated trade. A newly listed stock entering an index will produce this same pattern on its own.
Scale is what the filings do establish. Add the $35.43 billion here to the PIF stake and more than $61 billion of SpaceX common stock sits with these institutions as of June 30.
Our hedge fund tracker carries each fund's full record, and this guide covers what these forms leave out.
