Constellation Energy Corporatio (CEG) news and analysis

Four states now publish how much announced data center demand they actually expect. All four throw out most of it.
Between December 2025 and August 2026, utilities and grid operators in four states each published their own count of how much announced data center demand they expect to serve. Seven filings, no shared method, and every one of them removes most of what it was asked for. None of the figures are new; the pattern across them is.

Oklo (OKLO) jumped 15% Friday after its reactor hit criticality. Every other nuclear stock we track rose too, except one
Oklo rose 14.8% Friday after its Groves reactor reached first criticality and the company posted its first-ever quarterly revenue. X-Energy, Cameco, Constellation Energy and the rest of the nuclear and uranium trade rallied too, except Vistra.

Constellation Energy (CEG) reports Thursday with the stock 35% below its 52-week high
Constellation Energy reports second quarter results Thursday morning, with full-year guidance of $11.00 to $12.00 a share affirmed in May. The stock trades about 35% below its October high, and the wider AI power group fell again Tuesday.

The Fed held rates 9 to 3. Warsh says the AI capex boom is driving up chip prices.
The Fed held the federal funds target range at 3.5% to 3.75% on July 29 in a 9 to 3 vote, with Beth Hammack, Neel Kashkari and Lorie Logan dissenting in favor of a quarter-point increase. Chairman Kevin Warsh listed the AI capex boom as one of four questions the committee debated and said it is driving up prices of memory and logic chips. The June minutes show many participants expect AI infrastructure demand to keep pressuring technology and electricity prices.

Hedge fund Millennium disclosed a new 5.2% stake in Ameresco (AMRC) the week the stock hit its lowest point of 2026
Millennium Management's fresh 5.2% stake in clean-energy developer Ameresco (AMRC), worth about $42.5 million, was disclosed the same week the stock touched its lowest weekly close of 2026. The company is also building a still-early data center power business, including a partnership with CyrusOne.

Alphabet (GOOGL) raised AI capex to $205 billion, its third hike this year. Nvidia (NVDA) and Broadcom (AVGO) barely moved after hours
Alphabet raised its 2026 capex guidance to $195-205 billion during Wednesday's call, its third increase this year, and GOOGL fell as much as 5% in extended trading. But the chip and power stocks that are supposed to benefit from that spending, Nvidia, Broadcom, TSMC, Micron, Vistra and Constellation, barely moved.

Oklo (OKLO) and X-Energy (XE) rallied Tuesday. After the bell, a Trump nuclear-for-AI report sent them higher again (July 21, 2026)
Oklo (OKLO) closed up about 6% Tuesday and X-Energy (XE) about 7%, then both extended those gains after the bell. Bloomberg reports the two nuclear reactor developers are joining Microsoft and Nvidia in a near-$200 million Trump administration effort to speed power plant construction for AI data centers.

Micron (MU), SK Hynix and AMD just gave chip stocks their first back-to-back gain in two weeks (July 21, 2026)
Micron (MU) closed up about 12 percent, SK Hynix's ADR about 14 percent, and AMD 8 percent Tuesday, chip stocks' first back-to-back gain in two weeks. A Bank of America upgrade on memory demand and a new AMD-Microsoft Azure deal did the heavy lifting.

China's Xi Jinping just launched a 29-nation AI bloc. That's bullish for US AI stocks (NVDA, PLTR)
Xi Jinping used the 2026 World AI Conference in Shanghai to launch a 29-nation World AI Cooperation Organization and take a shot at US chip export controls. History says Washington answers moves like this with money, and that is bullish for the US AI trade.

Nebius (NBIS) signed a $1 billion deal this week. Its stock is down 14% today anyway, worse than the chipmakers.
Nebius signed a $1 billion, multi-year AI compute deal with Reflection AI, and its stock is still down about 14% today. The pressure has spread well past chips: CoreWeave, crypto miners like IREN and Cipher Mining, power stocks like Talen Energy and Vistra, and now New York's data-center moratorium and a Trump-Hochul clash are all weighing on the same trade.

Inside the AI hardware stack, from Nvidia's chips to the grid that powers them
An AI data center is seven layers of hardware: GPUs, memory, storage, CPUs, networking, manufacturing, and power. Here's the full map, with the public companies behind each layer and where the bottlenecks actually are.

Jim Cramer's tech calls, like Micron and Intel, are missing far more than everything else
We pulled 23 of Jim Cramer's stock calls from late April through early July and checked the real numbers. His tech picks are down 7.2% on average with just 1 winner out of 10. His other calls are roughly flat, and just under half are green.

Meta said it had spare compute. Then it broke ground on a $9 billion data center in Canada (META, CRWV, NBIS)
A week after Meta's excess-compute cloud plan crushed the neoclouds, it broke ground on a C$13 billion, 1-gigawatt data center in Alberta, Canada. The demand is real.

The AI shortage keeps moving: from GPUs to memory, and now to hard drives (STX, WDC)
The AI shortage keeps rotating down the supply chain: first GPUs, then compute and networking, now memory, and hard drives are the leg lighting up next. The pattern, the stock moves at each stage, and what could be next.

Meta is funding an entire gas plant in Alberta to power its AI. Here's what that means for CEG, VST and OKLO.
AI data centers need enormous, around-the-clock electricity, and the grid wasn't built for it. That's reviving nuclear, pushing Meta to fund an entire new gas plant in Alberta, and pulling solar into the mix too. Here's the demand, the deals, the stocks, and the risks worth respecting.
